Overview
Eastminster Church is a vibrant, mid-sized EPC (Evangelical Presbyterian Church) congregation of approximately 900 people located on the east side of Wichita, Kansas. Our mission is simple: to Encourage people to enjoy the fullness of knowing, loving and becoming like Jesus. We offer multiple worship services each Sunday—traditional and contemporary—and are committed to creating meaningful ministry experiences for people of all ages.

Position Overview:
The Director of Kids Ministry provides spiritual leadership, vision, and oversight for all ministries serving children from birth through 5th grade. This role is responsible for leading a team that partners with parents to disciple children and engage parents, ensuring a safe and engaging environment where kids grow in their relationship with Jesus. The Director also oversees Sunday Mornings & Wednesday Evening Kids Ministry activities, and coordinates Kids Ministry events and community outreach efforts that connect families to the church.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range $45,000 - $55,000 (based on experience)
- Paid time off
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Oversight
- Provide vision, direction, and strategic planning for all aspects of children's ministry
- Supervise Kids Ministry Staff
- Work alongside and support Director of Young Families
- Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers to serve effectively within the ministry per Eastminster hiring practices
- Ensure all ministry environments are safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate
- Programming and Curriculum
- Oversee the selection and implementation of biblically sound, engaging curriculum
- Ensure programming aligns with Eastminster’s mission and vision
- Coordinate special children s events such as VBS, family experiences, comprehensive summer activities, and seasonal celebrations
- Parent Partnership and Discipleship
- Equip and support parents as the primary spiritual influencers of their children
- Develop and distribute resources that help families grow in faith at home
- Institute practices that help children and families grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus Christ
- Offer parent workshops, family devotionals, and regular communication to strengthen the church-home connection
- Community Outreach
- Plan and execute community outreach events designed to engage local families and introduce them to the church
- Build partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and family ministries to expand the church s impact
- Encourage families within the church to serve and connect missionally in the church and in the community
- Administration and Communication
- Manage ministry budgets responsibly and effectively
- Maintain accurate records, schedules, and communication with families and volunteers
- Collaborate with other ministry leaders to ensure alignment across church ministries
- Ensure that all equipment and furnishings in the children s areas are clean and in good repair
Qualifications:
- A deep, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to the church s mission
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent life experiences
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children
- Proven ability to lead staff and volunteers effectively
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Passion for reaching and discipling children and their families
- A well-grounded faith in Jesus Christ and theological beliefs, policies and practices compatible with Eastminster Presbyterian church
