CNC Machinists
to support its
Commercial Aerospace Manufacturing
operations in Wichita, Kansas. Spirit Aero Systems is a leading global aerospace manufacturer and a key supplier to
Boeing Commercial Airplanes , producing high-precision aerostructures including fuselages, wing components, pylons, and nacelles.
This is a
union-represented CNC machining role
focused on
setup, operation, inspection, and quality assurance
of complex aerospace components. Most new hires will begin on
2nd shift , with opportunities for advancement, cross-training, and long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and inspect parts on
CNC and conventional machine tools
Work from
engineering drawings, process specifications, and quality requirements
Perform
multi-axis CNC machining
operations including milling, boring, turning, drilling, grinding, and contouring
Monitor and verify product quality using
mechanical and electronic measuring tools
Perform
in-process inspection , first-article inspection, and complete quality documentation
Support production flow by operating
multiple machines simultaneously
when required
Conduct routine
Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM)
tasks (filters, lubrication, coolant levels, etc.)
Move and track parts through the manufacturing process using shop-assigned equipment
Assist with training and mentoring other machinists
Cross-train in inspection and become
SIA qualified
Identify and document
non-conforming material
for Material Review Board (MRB) action
Level A Machinist Responsibilities
At the Level A classification, machinists will:
Independently set up and operate
complex, multi-axis CNC equipment
Perform precision machining to tight aerospace tolerances
Complete full inspections, including
first-article inspections
Maintain required certifications and quality records
Perform process surveillance to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards
Qualifications
2+ years of CNC multi-axis machining experience
Ability to read and interpret
engineering drawings and specifications
Experience using
precision measurement tools
Willingness to work
any shift
(most new hires start on 2nd shift)
Must pass or provide proof of passing the
Work Keys Assessment
Ability to work in a
union manufacturing environment

$23 – $39 per hour , based on experience
