Position SummaryThis position has responsibilities to maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters, such as electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication and manufacturing processes. This person will perform medium to high-level machine systems troubleshooting and repair and provide technical support for all phases of the operation.
This work will be of average to considerable difficulty in the accomplishment of a variety of mechanical maintenance actions.

- Work from verbal and written instructions, blueprints, and sketches to complete work orders and PMs.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and systems for emergency repairs.
- Apply skills, experience, and general knowledge to a wide range of tasks to adjust, repair, disassemble, replace, and reassemble plant equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance routines and inspections.
- Utilize hand tools and common powered hand and shop tools.
- Approach job duties with a sense of accuracy and urgency.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing and extending arms
- Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift
- Ability to work around animal blood and/or body parts
- Ability to work in cold areas (Approx. 20-40F)
- Ability to work in warm areas (over 100F)
- Ability to work in a wet/humid environment
- Ability to work with a knife (if trained)
- Ability to work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes
- Can understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Can lift heavy objects up to 60 lbs
- Ability to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work with strong odors/smells
- Can work in a noisy environment
- Ability to climb, move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms
- Can bend, stoop, and twist repetitively throughout shift
- Can walk long distances
- Repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs
- Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, including scissor lifts, pallet jacks, etc.
- Ability to work with a variety of chemicals and understand/abide by MSDS
- Ability to read and write work orders, instructions, daily reports and machine manuals
- Willing to pass physical to wear respirators or SCBA
- Stand and/or work on moving platforms and elevated platforms
- Ability to receive and relate orders/information using various communication devices
- HS Diploma or equivalency required
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/training manuals written in English
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors
- Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift preferred
- Displays sound judgment, organizational skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

- Must be able to perform studies on the production floor, work in temperatures ranging from
-10 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and in constant noise, exposure to fumes, dust, mechanical, electrical and safety hazards. - Noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud in plant areas
- Must be willing to work 8-10 hours daily up to 6 days per week with some flexibility
