Position Summary

Coats surface of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or stain using spray gun. Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.
  • Strips, sands, masks, and repaints surfaces, and manually blends finish to match surrounding areas.
  • Regulates controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings.
  • Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
  • Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with industry standards.
  • Records types and amounts of paints used for environmental regulation reporting.
  • Records completion of painting operations on planning documents.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by cleaning paint booth area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well co‑workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
  • Crostrain in different processes within department.
  • Other various duties as needed or as assigned.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications and activities including (but not limited to):
  • Basic data entry into manufacturing software system.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and write the English language.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Manufacturing environment may be exposed to noise levels, dust, grime and heat.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Lift parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Work non‑traditional hours, such as overtime, weekends and holidays.
Personal Skills
  • Must be able to work in standing position up to 10 hours.
  • Must be proficient in basic shop math and computer experience.
  • Must be safety oriented and follow safety policy.
