Job StoryThe NIAR Additive Manufacturing lab is looking for a student assistant who can operate, maintain, and monitor the Additive Manufacturing equipment.
Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job DutiesMain job duties include operating, maintaining, and monitoring Additive Manufacturing equipment, performing maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting on the machines, keeping up with a schedule of jobs on multiple machines, loading and unloading metallic powders, and ensuring completed jobs are safely and timely processed. Storage, organization of materials, and diligent documentation and reporting are essential.
Required EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements- Require reliable transportation.
- A minimum of 20/hrs per week.
- Opportunities for work hours are available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, 7 days a week.
- Operators will occasionally be asked to climb ladders to work on machines, lift heavy metal parts and powders, and wear PPE equipment (ventilated masks).
- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
