Job Summary

Bag composite parts for curing process.

Responsibilities
  • Works from specifications, blueprints, oral and written instructions to perform a variety of operations necessary to prepare parts for autoclave or oven curing process.
  • Cares to avoid slipping and misalignment of parts when applying vacuum bagging over parts.
  • Selects proper size plastic bag and fiberglass cloth.
  • Uses minimal judgment to trim, fit and seal cloth and bag over areas to be bonded to obtain uniform vacuum pressure.
  • Inserts vacuum port in bag and attaches vacuum hose to check for leaks, wrinkles, tears and proper seal.
  • Moves tools and parts to and from autoclave or ovens to facilitate curing process.
  • Uses hand and power tools such as drills, scales, scissors and knives.
  • Responsible only for own work. Performs other related duties as required.
Education
  • Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or bronze level Work Keys certification. Textron Aviation Blueprint certification preferred.
Experience
  • 6+ month of composites experience
Working Conditions
  • Working conditions may involve dirt, dust and grease. Could be exposed to fumes and sharp objects and loud noise. Exposure to heat. Safety shoes could be required.
