Overview
Job Title: CNC Machinist
Department: CNC
Reports To: CNC and Programming Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Review Date: 04/17/2025
Under the supervision of the department manager, the machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining 3- and 4-axis machines and other equipment to produce quality products on time. Promotes and utilizes standard safety practices.
Responsibilities- Run 3- and 4-axis machines.
- Blend and deburr parts as needed.
- Perform own setups and may assist others with setups.
- Check first part to ensure quality before proceeding to QA review.
- Maintain clear and concise communication with supervision, verbally and with handwritten notes at the machines.
- Maintain daily part run averages located inside each setup book.
- Maintain a clean workstation, including cleaning the inside and outside of machines at the end of shift.

Education and/or Experience , CertificationsMinimum of 1-year experience in CNC 3- and 4-axis machines.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate machine problems, quality issues, and other concerns or questions to departmental management.
- Basic math skills.
- Must be quality conscious.
- Ability to use and interpret precision measurement equipment.
- Ability to interpret aircraft blueprints.
- Knowledge of CNC tooling (e.g., end mills, drill bits, reamers).
- Moderate time management and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain a professional work atmosphere by being courteous and respectful to customers, co-workers, and management.
- Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds frequently; pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally; pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Reaching, ambulatory movement, standing for long periods, bending, twisting, extensive repetitive motions in wrists, hands and/or fingers, fine manipulation, grasping, squeezing, vibrating hand tools, good hand-eye coordination, and good visual acuity.
- Climate-controlled production area not subject to seasonal temperatures.
- Moderate level of noise; vibrations and moving parts on machines and hand tools.
- Moderate fumes/chemicals with good ventilation.
- Concrete floors; exposure to machine sparks and to metal chips/shavings.
