Shipping Department Supervisor

Valence Surface Technologies offers a full-service surface finishing solution for the commercial aerospace, defense, space, and satellite industries. With ten strategically located sites across the United States, we provide a start-to-finish solution from NDT and chemical processing to paint and sub-assembly.

Responsible for the efficient operation and organization of the shipping department. Plans, organizes, and coordinates shipping activities to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.

• Ensure all outgoing shipments meet quality and documentation standards.
• Maintain compliance with company safety policies and DOT regulations.
• Organize daily shipping schedules and prioritize urgent orders.
• Communicate effectively with customer service and production teams regarding shipping timelines.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation.
• Supervise and train shipping personnel on proper packaging, labeling, and handling procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels for shipping supplies and reorder as needed.
• Resolve shipping discrepancies and coordinate with carriers for timely delivery.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Give adequate direction, counsel employees on performance issues/concerns, and provide assistance or training where appropriate.
• Initiate disciplinary actions where necessary according to established procedures.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years in shipping or logistics, with supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and safety regulations (including OSHA compliance).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing production needs.
• Proficient in production management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.

This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants must be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws.
