The Asphalt Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of an asphalt plant. This role includes managing plant employees, production schedules, quality control, safety compliance, and maintenance of equipment. The manager ensures efficient and cost-effective production of asphalt while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Functions:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities.
  • Optimize production processes to ensure efficient and timely delivery of asphalt products.
  • Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to meet project deadlines and customer demands.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate plant personnel.
  • Schedule and manage shifts, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure asphalt meets required specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests on materials and finished products.
  • Address and resolve any quality issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and machinery.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment repairs and maintenance services.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
  • Monitor and control inventory costs.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports, safety records, and other necessary documentation.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on plant performance and operational issues.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping for all plant activities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in asphalt plant operations or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt production processes, equipment, and quality control standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using plant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to airborne particles. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
