Position OverviewThe Hospital Manager works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The Manager partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation, driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high‑quality patient care and excellent customer service.
Essential Position Functions- Supervise staff within all hospital support departments, achieving and maintaining labor goals.
- Hire, train, and manage office and technical clinic support staff; handle new hire paperwork.
- Orient new clinic staff to hospital operations and duties.
- Review work performance of direct reports, deliver feedback, resolve personnel issues, and discuss outcomes with the Regional Manager weekly.
- Conduct timely performance appraisals.
- Document and report accidents; file appropriate reports.
- Write policies and procedures for technical aspects of the hospital; present for approval.
- Manage schedules for technical and administrative staff and coordinate with the DVM.
- Monitor workforce management for missed punches and overtime; handle administrative responsibilities.
- Manage budgets, purchase equipment and supplies, and oversee facility maintenance.
- Submit contract veterinarian invoices, local vendor invoices, and ensure accuracy while obtaining W9s.
- Assist in resolving issues with pet owners when appropriate.
- Review revenue, labor, and employee issues with leadership on a weekly conference call; achieve set goals.
- Perform local accounting functions, ensuring financial information is accurate.
- Oversee inventory management and maintain proper documentation systems.
- Establish and oversee billing practices; review and maintain accuracy of billing.
- Negotiate contracts or agreements with insurance providers as needed.
- Maintain licensure compliance for the facility and for DVMs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

- Compliance – understand and manage compliance regulations.
- Planning and prioritizing – organize work efficiently and establish timelines to achieve goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, health science, or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum five years of direct office management experience, with at least two years of supervisory experience.
- Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) is preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Provide courteous, prompt, and efficient customer service.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and clinic software.
- Build productive relationships within and beyond the team.
- Active time–management and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible scheduling; work occasional weekends and holidays.
- Work safely around animals, hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Perform tasks that may involve standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Handle moderately physically demanding work including lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
$50,000 – $65,000 USD per year, with potential sign‑on bonus and relocation bonus available for qualified candidates.
