About Human Kind MinistriesHuman Kind Ministries (HK) has served Wichita for more than 140 years, supporting neighbors experiencing poverty and homelessness. The organization envisions a Wichita where homelessness reaches functional zero and where housing opportunity and dignity are within reach for all. Human Kind is shifting from a centralized campus model to a city as campus approach, expanding quality affordable housing across neighborhoods. The next President & CEO will lead this evolution and strengthen partnerships that move the community toward lasting housing stability.
PositionSummary
The President & CEO is the chief executive leader of Human Kind Ministries, responsible for advancing HK’s mission, long-term housing strategy, culture, and external presence. This leader will guide the growth of housing options in our community while ensuring financial sustainability, strong community partnerships, and operational excellence for our organization.
Key Responsibilities Housing & Community Leadership- Champion long-term housing development and neighborhood-based strategies across Wichita.
- Build and align cross-sector partnerships that close housing gaps and reduce unsheltered homelessness.
- Represent HK as a leader in housing policy, community collaboration, and system-level solutions.
- Set and execute strategic direction to advance HK’s housing development and city as campus model.
- Lead the creation of a resource development strategy for the entire organization, including government relations and fundraising.
- Build cross sector partnerships that expand housing availability and accessibility across Wichita.
- Model and reinforce a culture rooted in care, clarity, hope, and respect.
- Invest in leadership development and organizational health.
- Foster trust and openness across all components of the organization.
- Lead the creation of a resource development strategy for the entire organization that includes philanthropic, government relations, and fundraising strategies.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships that support innovative solutions and long-term financial stability.
- Ensure financial sustainability through diversified revenue, mission-aligned stewardship.
- Partner closely with the Board on long‑term financial planning and oversight.
- Ensure HK has the structure, talent, and systems needed to execute strategy effectively.
- Partner with the EVP/CFO to align operational systems, accountability, and performance goals.
- Maintain strong Board relationships through transparency, clarity, and shared governance.
- Serve as the organization’s primary storyteller, clearly communicating who we serve, why it matters, and how housing development advances mission.
- Translate strategy and impact into narratives that connect donors, partners, and the community to HK’s mission.
- Equip the Board and leadership team with aligned messaging and communication materials.
- Cast and reinforce a clear vision for long‑term housing stability and community partnership.
- Represent Human Kind with humility, professionalism, and courage.
- Balance innovation with discipline, ensuring ideas are mission‑aligned and financially viable.
- Build trust within the organization and across the community through steady, relational leadership.
- Growth in affordable and supportive housing inventory
- Improved housing retention rates at 6‑ and 12‑month intervals.
- Reduced average time from engagement by partner organizations to housing placement
- Strong financial performance and diversification of revenue sources.
- Consistently improved staff retention, engagement, and organizational health.
- Recognized leadership presence and brand clarity within the Wichita housing ecosystem.
- Minimum of 10 years leadership experience with at least 5 in a senior executive role
- Background in nonprofit, housing, or community development preferred
