Join EY as a Senior Manager in the Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team. Your role will span strategy, execution, and client engagement across all Federal GPS sector service lines.
The OpportunityOur GPS FAAS team is expanding rapidly. As Senior Manager you will develop your career by communicating strategic goals internally and externally, listening to clients, and delivering exceptional experiences in a field that requires custom, innovative solutions.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Actively pursue business development activities, including strategy, proposal development, and engagement deliverables.
- Lead proposal responses, train staff, and deliver engagement outcomes while managing multiple projects.
- Think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex problems.
- Build relationships with colleagues across service lines to identify cross‑sell opportunities for clients.
- Travel frequently to meet key clients and support engagements as needed.
- Maintain strong advisory relationships with client personnel and proactively manage client satisfaction.
- Direct field work, update engagement status, and manage staff performance.
- Deep understanding of complex governmental accounting, budgetary reporting, and auditing concepts (e.g., GASB).
- Execute advisory/consulting work such as reporting or transformation initiatives.
- Develop people through delegation, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Contribute ideas, listen to teammates, and foster an innovative, team‑oriented environment.
- Leverage technology to share knowledge and enhance service delivery.
- Understand EY service lines and encourage team members to bring ideas forward.
- U.S. CPA license in the state of residence.
- At least 10 years of post‑college experience in financial audit and advisory services for SLED clients.
- In‑depth knowledge of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, Financial and Single Audit (Subpart
F), and OMB guidance. - Proficiency with Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Annual Financial Statements, and Single Audit Report preparation.
- Experience with modified‑accrual reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting.
- Hands‑on business development experience in the SLED space, including proposal governance.
- Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated record of managing, mentoring, and improving high‑performing teams.
- Integrity and dedication to teamwork and leadership.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance or higher.
- Will work within the Metropolitan area where hired; travel up to 30% for federal projects and up to 80% for state and local projects may be required.
- CGFM and/or CDFM certification.

What We Offer- A comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary ranges from $146,700–$335,100 across the U.S.;
New York City, Washington State, and California (excl. Sacramento) $176,000–$380,800. Additional benefits include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off. - A hybrid model with 40–60% in‑person collaboration for external client roles.
