Typical accountabilities for a BMS Project Manager within Balfour Beatty are:
- Monitoring and implementing the key contractual elements of the project against budget and programme, being client‑facing with regards to programme/progress/design issues and responsible for the integration and dissemination of design changes and reporting on programme implications.
- Creating clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and managing the triple constraint for construction projects, which are cost, time, and scope. Also ensuring the project is executed in a safe manner that complies with CDM, H&S legislation and our client’s requirements.
- H&S Chairperson – chairing the regular H&S forum, Black Hat Supervisors forum and monthly Workers Coordination meeting, including the dissemination of the actions arising.
- Overseeing the development, execution and presentation of proposals.
- Overseeing and monitoring team‑based relationships.
- Tracking leads via partner relationships and referrals in business development capacity.
- Coordinating with Legal/Risk regarding policies relating to teaming, contracts and pursuits.
- Attending functions in a relationship‑building capacity.
- Helping establish and manage client and team member expectations.
- Supporting the best‑value bid process with bid‑day activities and oversight.
- Participating in the decision process for blending partners into winning teams.
- Overseeing the global project team during project pursuit.
- Training and staff development.
- Assisting as needed with purchasing.
- Developing the design deliverable schedule and being responsible for progress.
- Monitoring risk and budget as well as the contract deliverable schedule.
- Reviewing and approving deliverables.
- Verifying agreements with strategic partners, drafting contracts to execution.
- Informing the Director and BUL of issues and status.
- When assigned, managing the design‑build process, serving as design manager role and LLC staff.
- Encouraging employee growth by mentoring and managing development plans.
- Developing documents and maintaining the delivery process and coordinating the same with SOP.
- Identifying, hiring and creating development plans for individuals.
- Participating in trade organizations.
Typical skills, knowledge and experience to be a successful BMS Project Manager within Balfour Beatty are:
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred and extensive experience. Depending upon the project size, scope, and complexity the years of experience may vary.
- Demonstrable leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others, while maintaining effective relationships with customers by meeting or exceeding their requirements and expectations.
- Able to supervise and develop direct reports while prioritising and delegating significant responsibilities to others.
- Able to manage essential functions effectively by consistently driving for quality, profitable, safe and timely results on the assigned project.
- Experienced and familiar with team‑based delivery, contracting and the design‑build process.
- Demonstrates solid presentation skills and verbal/written skills.
