Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Job Description

We have two openings for the role of Shipping and Receiving Clerk for the 2nd shift. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our shipping and receiving processes.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of items shipped and received.
  • Oversee the safe and reliable packaging of all outgoing shipments.
  • Process items for shipment according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet schedules.
  • Ensure all international shipment documentation is compliant with applicable standards.
  • Maintain timely, effective, and professional communication with all internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Perform effective record-keeping, filing, and other administrative duties as required.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures and report any accidents immediately.
  • Work directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with plant manager, sales staff, and plant personnel
  • Ability to understand equipment and tolerances from past experience
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Warehouse experience with forklift, packing, and shipping
  • Some knowledge of metals handling for proper staging, processing, packaging, and shipping
  • First aid and CPR training
  • Exposure to SAP, safety programs, ISO standards
  • Experience with forklift, shipping and receiving, kitting, logistics, inventory control, customer service, SAP, ERP systems, Microsoft Office, order selection, Fed Ex, RF scanner
  • Knowledge of Bill of Lading, shipping, receiving, and work orders
  • Associate degree preferred

Work Environment

This role is set in a warehouse environment that is not climate-controlled. The position is scheduled for the 2nd shift, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential voluntary weekend shifts. Training will occur on the 1st shift from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The work involves being on or around heavy machinery.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.20 - $20.20/hr.
