Role DescriptionThis is an on-site, full-time role for a Financial Controller, located in the Wichita, Kansas Metropolitan Area. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to oversee and maintain the firm’s financial operations. The Financial Controller is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance, with particular emphasis on strict client trust accounting requirements. This role prepares and analyzes financial statements, manages payroll, supports audits, and provides strategic financial insight to firm partners.
Duties/Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly financial statements
- Lead annual budget development and monitoring
- Manage the firm’s accounting, billing, and timekeeping software (Centerbase)
- Oversee the accounting team in conjunction with the Firm Administrator, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable; provide training and foster a collaborative departmental culture
- Oversee financial audits, tax filings, and periodic regulatory reviews
- Coordinate with third-party CPA firm by providing accurate and timely financial data for tax compliance
- Manage biweekly payroll processing in partnership with Firm Administrator
- Administer the firm’s 401(k) plan
- Maintain fixed asset tracking and reporting
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma required; a degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of substantive accounting experience; experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
- Demonstrated reliability and exceptional trustworthiness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize additional accounting software systems.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage both strategic and tactical responsibilities.
- Proven ability to maintain confidential and highly accurate records.
