Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Structural Design Engineer specializing in mechanical design with a focus on doors, including hinge and latch mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing complex kinematic solutions and a strong experience in aircraft/space vehicle design. You will play a pivotal role in guiding engineers and defining structural architecture through advanced technology proposals.
Job Title:Structural Design Engineer Responsibilities
- Design complex kinematic solutions in a conceptual design environment.
- Guide engineers in structural design.
- Define structural architecture by identifying and proposing advanced technology.
- Support design through trade studies, concept development, and interface development.
- Utilize CATIA for part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench.
- Design composites primary and secondary structures.
- Form high-temperature materials.
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
- Extensive experience in space vehicle design.
- Proficiency in CATIA and NX/Fibersim systems.
- Experience with GFEM (Global Finite Element Models) and DFEM (Detail Finite Element Models).
- Ability to create simple working FEMs for conceptual design.
- Experience with composite workbench.
- Knowledge of material forms and processes for conceptual design trade studies.
- Experience in executing trade studies to select optimal design solutions.
- Capability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in wing, fuselage, vertical tail, air vehicle door, and stringer/frames/clips design.
- DoD clearances are required.
- Proficient in mechanical design, systems design, and mechanical engineering.
This position requires working onsite in a cleared facility from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role supports a minimum 18-month contract in a secure environment for a defense‑related program.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $100.00/hr.
