Job Description

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Principal Stress Engineer to join our Engineering department based in Wichita, Kansas.

You will be part of a team that supports the development of aircraft structures as a Static Stress analyst. Duties include performing complicated static analysis for both metallic and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and fatigue colleagues to provide quality solutions. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop high strength to weight ratio structures.

Your working environment

Located on the Wichita State University (WSU) innovation campus is Airbus’ first dedicated engineering facility outside of Europe. Our team of 200+ support staff and engineers focus on aerostructure design including analysis of aircraft primary structures, such as wings and fuselages, for all major Airbus products across the globe.

Your challenges
  • Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
  • Document analyses in support of trade studies or detail drawing sign-off for airframe structure.
  • Collaborate with other (internal/external) technical departments to solve complex technical problems.
  • Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product.
  • Utilize Static Approver and Authorizer technical signatory and develop others in acquiring signatory.
Your boarding pass
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.
  • 13 years total experience in static stress analysis with airframe structures.
  • Position requires in-depth knowledge of technical principles of engineering. Applied knowledge of technical documentation, techniques and procedures.
  • A strong computer background, including MS Office application experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
  • Authorized to Work in the US
  • Working knowledge of all Airbus Structures.
