Senior Electrical Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and enhancement of electronic systems used in complex commercial products. This role contributes to new product development and ongoing improvements by providing technical leadership across electrical hardware, embedded software, and system integration. The position emphasizes practical engineering, cross‑functional collaboration, and delivering reliable, user‑focused solutions.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the definition and execution of product development initiatives in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Support projects from early concept through production release, balancing performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability.
- Develop system‑level architectures and technical documentation including requirements, schematics, and design specifications.
- Participate in prototyping, design validation, and iterative product improvement efforts.
- Design and implement electrical circuits and embedded solutions for control, sensing, and communication functions.
- Develop and maintain embedded firmware to support product functionality and system reliability.
- Conduct design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting activities throughout development and transition to production.
- Analyze test data and prototype performance to guide design decisions and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define functional test methods and support production readiness.
- Assist with design changes, documentation updates, and technical problem‑solving during manufacturing ramp‑up.
- Support applicable regulatory and quality requirements relevant to electronic products.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure smooth handoff between engineering and operations.
- Work independently on complex engineering tasks while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Mentor and support less‑experienced engineers through technical guidance and best practices.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in electrical design and product development environments.
- Strong hands‑on experience with electronic hardware development and laboratory testing.
- Experience developing and debugging embedded software.
- Proficiency with common engineering tools and documentation practices.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with low‑power electronics, sensing technologies, or communication interfaces.
- Familiarity with industry design tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience supporting products through regulatory, quality, or compliance processes.
- Background in connected or data‑enabled product design.
The position involves a combination of office and laboratory work. Employees must have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed and follow standard safety practices, including wearing required protective equipment. The work environment is primarily onsite with office hours from 8 to 5.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
