Job Title:
Piping Designer
We are seeking a skilled Piping Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing assigned projects on time and accurately. You will work independently to develop scope and procedures with input from Team Leaders and managers, utilizing your expertise in design-drafting assignments using AutoCAD 2D and 3D drawing techniques.
Responsibilities- Complete assigned projects on-time and accurately.
- Develop scope and procedures with input from Team Leaders and managers.
- Perform design-drafting assignments using AutoCAD 2D and 3D drawing techniques.
- Draft plans and construction drawings considering the operation and layout of piping systems.
- Conduct field work, including walk-downs locating tie-ins, and create dimensioned field sketches.
- Build equipment models based on vendor/specification documents.
- Create accurate Isometric drawings and develop accurate Bill of Material documents.
- Prepare layout, design, and 3D modeling of complex piping systems based on P&IDs.
- Generate complex structural model and coordinate with structural engineer.
- Interpret piping stress analysis reports and collaborate with stress engineers.
- Manage and communicate with 3rd Party designers to ensure quality work.
- Mentor and train other designers and drafters.
- Generate line lists and tie-in list.
- Participate in P&w meetings and drive model review discussions.
- Utilize scanned point cloud files to produce accurate piping models.
- Follow and develop engineering standards, formats, and procedures.
- Communicate requirements of standards and procedures to others.
- Report changes and mistakes and manage the revision process.
- Incorporate safety, operability, maintainability, and constructability in design work.
- Review and check work prepared by others and provide feedback.
- Generate man-hour estimates and monitor progress.
- Participate in project meetings and design/model reviews.
- Provide accurate feedback to project team regarding design progress.
- Previous piping design experience required.
- 3D modeling experience required.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD (current version or within last 3 versions) 2D.
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings.
Skills & Qualifications
- Cadworks experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Cadworks and ReCap preferred.
- Familiarity with AISC and ASTM specifications preferred.
- Knowledge of construction and fabrication techniques preferred.
- Understanding of using tape measure, square, level, and various layout tools.
- Associate degree or Technical degree required;
Bachelor or Technical degree preferred.
The work environment includes using advanced technologies such as AutoCAD and Cadworks, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement. The role involves both office work and field activities, and creating detailed sketches. The candidate will work closely with a team and participate in project meetings and reviews.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
