Join Sierra Nevada Corporation as a Senior Aerospace Engineer focused on aircraft certification. The role involves research, design, development, testing, and continual improvement of cutting‑edge aircraft and systems.
Location:
Wichita, KS
• Salary: $95,000 – $120,000 per year.
This posting will remain open for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.
Responsibilities- Coordinate with aircraft regulators, including the FAA and US/foreign military organizations, to ensure design compliance.
- Provide technical support for a broad range of aircraft modifications, covering design, development, analysis, and testing.
- Solve a diverse set of engineering problems related to aircraft design and operation.
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or another related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience.
- Higher education may substitute for relevant experience.
- Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Experience working in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
- Basic awareness of the certification planning process (i.e., developing certification plans, establishing certification basis, proposing methods of compliance, and proposing compliance artifacts).
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
- Background in the Aerospace and/or Defense Industry.
- Background in Project Management.
- Comfortable reviewing information from various engineering disciplines outside of your specialty.
- Prior experience with FAA Certification Standards (14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, 29) and/or Military certification (MIL‑HDBK‑516) programs.
- Experience coordinating certification approvals with the GAA.
- Experience as an Aircraft Certification Office, ODA, or Delegated Engineer.
- Experience with representatives (DERs)/Unity Members or other certifying authorities.
- Experience with reading, reviewing, and interpreting technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Familiarity with aircraft flight test.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, and non‑U.S. citizens are ineligible for clearance.
