Overview
Koch Ag & Energy Solutions is looking for a Control Systems Project Engineer to join our Operations Excellence capability. The successful candidate will support the safe, reliable, and efficient deployment of capital projects of the company's fleet of fertilizer plants. This role will require close collaboration with Project Managers, plant staff as well as other support team members.
The preferred location for the role will be located at our corporate office in Wichita, KS. A relocation package is available.

- Work with Project Managers to develop the technical scope of work for the control systems and process control portions of major capital projects.
- Interface with KAES Project Managers, the Engineering Contractor, the Main Automation Contractor, and other third-party vendors to deliver successful system integration outcomes.
- Work with Project Managers and Project Schedulers to drive effective schedule development - ensuring that predecessor-successor relationships impacting the instrumentation and control scopes are clear and well understood.
- Direct and guide the Engineering Contractor's Process Control/Automation Team to ensure they understand all scope requirements for the control system.
- Develop and design control loops on P&IDs. Review P&IDs and ensure control loop design is clear and follows good process control theory and practice.
- Act as SME for the control system design.
- Assist in development of process control narratives and cause-and-effect sheets - ensuring good control design practice and adherence to scope requirements.
- Responsible for technical outcomes for all control systems deliverable on the project.
- Interface with Instrument Engineers within KAES and on the Engineering Contractor team to ensure that instruments will meet control systems performance requirements.
- Assist in the design of the control systems cabinets, network architecture, bill of materials, and all other deliverables for the control system itself (Yokogawa and Delta
V). - Support Factory Acceptance Testing, start up, and commissioning activities for the project.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experience in lieu of education
- Experience in control systems design, process control, and automation within capital projects.
- Experience with DCS and SIS hardware and software
- Must be able to travel (normal is 25% peak up to 50%)
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in an instrumentation and control systems role
- Experience with process industry standards and codes (ISA, IEC, etc.)
- Experience with Functional Safety Management
- Hands-on experience working with the process controls in a plant or production environment, supporting design and implementation of process controls for your area of responsibility
- Proven experience in instrumentation and controls project engineering as part of large capital projects.
