Recreation Aide - Tex Consolver Clubhouse

Position Overview

The City of Wichita is NOT an E-Verify Employer.

Entry-level seasonal or part-time public contact work in a wide variety of areas – Recreation Center, Athletics, Tennis Center, or Watson Park. Employees receive direct supervision.

THIS IS A LIMITED PART-TIME POSITION

The day and hours for this position vary. The bargaining unit is not represented by a union.

• Serve customers at concession counter.
• Receive and disburse cash.
• Prepare and handle food.
• Stock concession products.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance.
• Supervise children, organize and lead games, and assist with class instruction.
• Officiate or keep score for sports activities.
• Perform basic custodial duties.
• Set up and take down building furnishings and arrangements.
• May require operation of a vehicle.

• Knowledge of basic arithmetic functions.
• Ability to count money, make change, and use a computer to access, interpret, and record information.
• Ability to accept and respond to a steady volume of requests for information and/or service, both in person and over the telephone.
• Ability to lift and carry stacks of boxes or other loads weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to teach students with a wide variety of experience and aptitude.
• Ability to communicate orally clearly and effectively.
• Able to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants, and the public.
• May require a valid Kansas Driver's License.
• Employees must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

• Must be at least 16 years of age (or 18 years of age, depending on assignment).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

• Some experience in a customer service or retail environment.
• Previous cash handling experience.

Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
