Job StoryThe NIAR Composites & Structures lab is seeking a student assistant to operate surface grinders and CNC machines.
Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties- Responsible for setting up and operating machines with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret instructions for machine parts to specified dimensions while meeting tolerances.
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications- Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 20-30 hours per week.
- Able to do simple addition and subtraction.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated and reliable.
- Positive attitude and adaptable.
Lifting steel and aluminum fixtures regularly that weigh approximately 15 - 20 lbs. Able to stand for 8 hours.
Physical Requirements- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
