Full Time - Accounting - Staff Accountant - Corporate Office
Location: Wichita, KS
Essential Duties- Collaborates with the CAO and other staff.
- Performs systems input to include deposits and adjustments, applications, and other items as needed.
- Performs month-end closeouts, monthly billings, financial statements, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepares monthly reports in accordance with portfolio requirements.
- Enters and pays invoices throughout the month and ensures that payments are made on time to avoid fees.
- Maintains all tenant information on computer systems.
- Updates all daily reports.
- Prints monthly delinquency reports and keeps the supervisor and on-site manager informed.
- Assists in creating and timely producing of reports as deemed necessary by business partners.
- Analyzes the reports and makes recommendations.
- Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports.
- Prepares schedules for annual audits and responds to follow-up requests.
- Follows up on all security deposits and processes all refunds.
- Performs general administrative duties such as filing and typing.
- Maintains good communication with on-site staff members to facilitate all accounting tasks.
- Provides training on accounting tasks to on-site staff.
- Answers phones and processes mail, as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous office duties such as assisting with office projects, as needed.
- Performs any other necessary duties that contribute to the success of Weigand Omega, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related field.
- 2+ years in full-cycle accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Property Management accounting experience preferred.
- Background in accounting, cash, and accrual.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
- Strong experience with Excel spreadsheets and Word.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop others.
- Ability to multi-task; work on projects simultaneously; strong organizational skills.
- Ability to solve problems in a positive manner; offer best practices.
- Ability to work with multiple companies, vendors, owners, etc., with similar and different operational goals.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Ability to develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Requires accurate typing, ten-key, calculator, fax, and copier skills.
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a variety of practical situations and accurately follow standardized procedures, even if minor deviations are occasionally required.
- Requires the ability to work at a fast pace with accuracy and to ensure that all deadlines are met.
- Team player with a strong work ethic.
- Detail-oriented.
