Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Technician II is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and installation of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and authorities having jurisdiction. This role requires independent field work, accurate documentation, and professional customer interaction while ensuring systems are compliant, operational, and safe.

• System Inspection & Testing:
  Perform inspections and functional testing of fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Repairs & Maintenance:
  Diagnose deficiencies and complete repairs, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions per work orders and inspection findings.
• System Installation:
  Install fire sprinkler systems and components according to blueprints, specifications, and job plans, including cutting, threading, and installing pipe.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  Prepare accurate inspection reports, service tickets, deficiency notices, and required documentation in a timely manner.
• Code Compliance:
  Ensure all work complies with applicable fire codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
• Customer Communication:
  Communicate identified deficiencies, repair recommendations, and system status clearly and professionally with customers.
• Job Coordination:
  Coordinate work activities with supervisors and managers to ensure efficient scheduling, job completion, and customer satisfaction.
• Vehicle & Tool Maintenance:
  Maintain assigned service vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Safety Compliance:
  Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE guidelines always.
• General Duties:
  Perform additional fire protection-related duties as assigned to support department operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, components, and testing procedures
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and industry codes
• Attention to detail in inspections, repairs, and documentation
• Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance

• Experience:
  
  1-2 years or more of fire sprinkler, alarm, or life safety experience required
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent required
• Licenses:
  Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
• Certifications:
  
  NICET, RME-I license, and backflow certifications preferred
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to safely use sprinkler pipe threaders, backflow testers, lifts, hand tools, and power tools

• Hours:
  
  Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with overtime or adjusted schedules based on workload.
• Environment:
  Primarily field-based at commercial, industrial, and residential customer sites; may include indoor mechanical spaces, crawl spaces, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Physical Demands:
  Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated areas; lifting up to 70 pounds with or without assistance.
• Travel:
  Local travel required; occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
• Safety:
  Must adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when on job sites.
