- Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patients, develop and implement nursing care plans, maintain medical records, and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
- Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by state Nurse Practice Act regulations, facility and corporate policies and procedures.
- Ensure physician orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
- Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information. Notify physician of significant changes in status such as detox difficulties, medical emergencies, or changes in medical status regarding response to medications.
- Develop and implement nursing treatment plans specific to assessed needs; initial treatment plan completed upon admission.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of universal precautions in direct patient care.
- Administer medications accurately per ordered notes and document controlled substance administration counts on required documents.
- Complete admissions and discharges efficiently and accurately as directed.
- Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients by upholding professional boundaries and providing attentive, compassionate care.
- Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit as directed.
- Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in patient treatment.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or Multistate License.
- CPR and SAMA certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
