Location: Wichita Falls State Hospital, 6515 Kemp Blvd., Wichita Falls, TX
Salary Range: $6,579.41 – $7,761.50 per month
Pay Frequency: Monthly
Shift: Regular Evening and Weekend; additional Days, Nights, Weekends
Telework: Not Eligible
Travel: Up to 10%

Essential Job Functions- Under direct supervision of the Nurse Administrator and Nurse Manager, observe, assess, plan, intervene and evaluate outcomes and document all aspects of patient care.
- Provide primary proactive management for assigned service area and supervise, counsel, and evaluate other nursing staff.
- Coordinate staffing and patient care activities on assigned units, addressing performance issues promptly.
- Facilitate smooth admissions, transfers, and discharges, communicating with admissions staff and reviewing patient records.
- Carry out medical staff orders, implement nursing interventions, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Provide individual and group patient teaching on medications, illness, and treatment.
- Implement precautions, restraints, and seclusion procedures per policy, ensuring patient safety and rights.
- Participate in the client abuse and neglect process, performance improvement teams, and disaster response or COOP activation as required.
- Attend mandatory trainings and participate in ongoing in‑service education.
- Knowledge of American Nurses Association standards, department policies, and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Skills in supervisory and management techniques.
- Ability to perform CPR, aggression management, restraint techniques, and emergency care.
- Positive interaction skills with patients, staff, families, and the public.
- Calm crisis management and effective verbal & written communication.
Licensed registered nurse (RN) in the state of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact).
Initial Screening Criteria- Graduation from a nursing program accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
- At least six (6) months of experience as a practicing RN.
- At least six (6) months of experience in a health agency, hospital, or health‑care facility is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks including CANRS, Nurse Aid, Medication Aide, and Employee Misconduct.
- Males aged 18‑25 must register with the Selective Service.
- All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered;
Waco Center for Youth applicants must be 21. - Flexibility in work hours may be required; overtime and extended hours possible.
- Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures is required; vaccination per CDC guidelines is mandatory.
