Responsibilities- The Rehabilitation Therapy Technician II (RTT) performs routine habilitative and rehabilitative therapy work. Primary responsibilities include helping the habilitation/rehabilitation supervisor provide assistance to individuals for an assigned therapeutic specialty (e.g., supported employment job coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation and vocational/day program).
- Assist with services as directed by implementing treatment plans for the assigned therapeutic specialty.
- May accompany individuals to and from activities and appointments.
- Performs housekeeping duties in therapeutic activity areas.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a state vehicle may be required, depending on facility needs.
- Work under moderate supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Performs other duties as assigned, including participating in disaster response/COOP activation with possible alternate shift patterns or locations.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs)- Attends work regularly and may be required to work a specific or rotating shift schedule, extended shifts, and/or overtime per agency policy.
- Prepare materials for assessments using data from prior assessments and assist in conducting assessments as directed.
- Accompany individuals to and from activities and appointments, if required.
- Prepare materials for therapeutic activities and maintain an adequate supply of materials.
- Provide hands-on assistance to individuals for an assigned therapeutic specialty (e.g., supported employment job coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation and vocational/day program).
- Perform direct contact observations and complete observation notes.
- Collect data related to treatment plans as instructed.
- Provide feedback to the interdisciplinary team about progress and assist with treatment plan development with PNAs as applicable.
- Provide feasible treatment goals for the team and individuals.
- Maintain current skills related to assigned responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned include disaster response/COOP participation and potential shift/location changes.
Knowledge,Skills And Abilities

- Knowledge of relevant therapeutic techniques and ability to gain more knowledge.
- Ability to teach, coach or train in one-on-one situations.
- Ability to work with individuals who may display aggressive behavior.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with equipment, tools, and materials used in therapeutic activities or ability to gain experience.
- Ability to assist in development of treatment and support plans.
- Ability to collect data for a specified therapeutic specialty (e.g., occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation).
- Ability to use personal computers and relevant software.
- General knowledge of Joint Commission/BHS regulations and state hospital policies and procedures.
