Job Description Minister/Director of Nex Gen Discipleship

Lamar Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, TX

Principal Function

The Minister/Director of Nex Gen Discipleship is a part time position that requires approximately 20 hours each week. The prospective applicant should have sufficient education, skills, and experience to carry out the specific duties and expectations listed below. The Minister/Director of Nex Gen Discipleship reports to the Senior Pastor and will assist him to equip and lead the church in carrying out the gospel ministry with specific emphasis on youth, young adults, and their families.

This individual will work to assist in fulfilling the family ministry vision of discipling and connecting all of the generations together in service and love for God.

Specific Duties and Expectations
  • Cultivate and work with both a Youth Ministry and a Nex Gen Team to plan, implement, and evaluate balanced youth & young adult ministry programs that include Bible study, discipleship, outreach, fellowship, and mission action.
  • Lead these teams to build lasting relationships within the church body by connecting with all generations/ages (i.e. Childrens Dept., Spanish Dept., Senior Adults, any other ministries within the body).
  • Plan and direct activities such as youth camp, mission trips, retreats, college campus serving, and other special events.
  • Plan activities within approved youth & young adult budgets respectively when specified.
  • On occasion, be available nights and weekends for youth or young adult ministry events.
  • Assist the pastor in making emergency pastoral care visits as needed.
  • Visit prospects and members related to the youth ministry.
  • Serve as Staff Advisor for church committees as requested.
  • Transport youth to and from various activities, driving a church van.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Read, understand, and affirm the 1963 Baptist Faith and Message.
  • Maintain a clean legal & driving record.
  • Complete any required safety training as directed by the Pastor.
  • Comply with church policies and procedures.
  • Comply with federal and state laws.
  • Actively work alongside the local Baptist Student Ministry to serve and connect with other college age students.
  • Coordinate visits with WFISD and surrounding area students during lunch hours or extra curricular events as approved by the school system and Senior Pastor.
  • Connect students with other ministry organizations (i.e. BSM, CEF, FCA, etc.) that align with Scripture and adhere to the core beliefs of Lamar Baptist Church, as stated in our Constitution & Bylaws, in order to better equip them to serve in any environment they are in.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Driver’s License and insured to drive a van
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Level Six)
