Position: T-38 Simulator Pilot Instructor

T-38 Simulator Pilot Instructor

Join the Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) as a Simulator Pilot Instructor (GS‑2181‑12) at the 80th Operations Group, Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX. This role involves serving as a current and qualified, instrument‑rated, multi‑ or single‑engine advanced military flight simulator and academic instructor for students enrolled in the Euro‑NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) program and for rated upgrade pilots enrolled in the Euro‑NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) Pilot Instructor Training (PIT) program.

Recruitment and Retention Incentives may be available based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid instrument rating and experience as a rated military aviator (pilot).

• Experience flying the T‑38 is required.

• Previous experience as an instructor in a military aircraft is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of aircraft systems, operating procedures, aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, instrument and visual flight rules, and training aircraft and simulator operation.

• Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.

• Proficiency in computer applications and simulator software to achieve desired learning objectives.

• Skill in demonstrating flying procedures and maneuvers in an aircraft simulator.

Minimum Flight Hour Requirements (Flight Logs Are Mandatory)
  • 1500 Total Flight Hours
  • 250 Pilot‑In‑Command Hours
  • 75 Night Flying Hours
  • 75 Instrument Hours (at least 10 hours in actual instrument conditions)
  • 500 Instructor Flight Hours (Fixed Wing)
Mandatory Documents
  • Flight Logs (military and civilian)
  • DD‑214 (if applicable)
  • SF‑50 (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. civilian.
  • Experience as a rated military aviator (pilot) is critical.
  • Experience as a T‑38 is required.
  • Previous experience as an instructor in a military aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures, aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, instrument and visual flight rules, and training aircraft and simulators.
  • Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, including simulator systems sufficient to meet desired learning objectives.
  • Skill in demonstrating flying procedures and maneuvers in an aircraft simulator.
