Overview

Works within the vision, mission, and philosophy of the agency. With limited supervision, the Mental Health Worker II provides comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, risk assessment, clinical interventions, case management, and coordination of therapeutic activities in the community. The role engages directly with children and adults, delivering behavioral health interventions, skill‑building, and care coordination. It requires a solid understanding of mental health practices, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to manage complex client interactions in a trauma‑informed and culturally responsive manner.

Compensation

We Offer
  • The initial compensation ranges from $21.00 to $25.83 per hour.
  • Salary is dependent on experience above the minimum qualifications and internal equity considerations.
  • The salary may vary if you reside in a different location than the location posted.
  • 8% License Differential for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD, and select Peer Certifications.
  • 7.5% Bilingual Differential for qualified positions.
  • Must meet company policy eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct support to clients through therapeutic activities, behavioral interventions, and skill‑building exercises.
  • Assists in implementing individualized treatment plans and documents client progress toward goals.
  • Participates in intakes, assessments, and team‑based case planning as appropriate.
  • Conducts check‑ins, wellness calls, and crisis support under clinical supervision.
  • Supports clients in navigating resources, attending appointments, and achieving recovery goals.
  • Documents services in electronic health records per agency and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains a safe, structured, and inclusive environment across settings.
  • Communicates observations and concerns to supervisors and contributes to case discussions.
  • May assist in onboarding, guiding, or mentoring newer staff or interns.
  • Participates in trainings, team meetings, and supervision to support continuous learning and service quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in psychology, social work, sociology, or related field plus three or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum of three years working with individuals experiencing mental illness, trauma, or co‑occurring conditions.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health documentation, EHR systems, and Medi‑Cal standards preferred.
  • Experience in residential, outpatient, or field‑based mental health programs preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid and crisis de‑escalation certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on setting.
  • Strong communication, observation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Commitment to trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and recovery‑oriented service values.
Physical Requirements

The employee frequently stands or sits, uses hands to produce records, and must interact with community members. Regular lifting of up to 5 pounds and occasional lift up to 10 pounds is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
