Job DescriptionA Sub-Group Leader is in charge of a group of 20-23 elementary aged students (K-5th grades). Duties includes signing in students, passing out supper, supervising/assisting with Homework, Sports & Rec. and leading Enrichment lessons from school dismissal to 6 p.m. daily (typical hours are Tuesday 12:15pm to 6:00p.m. while MWThF are typically 2:15pm-6:00pm p.m.) Group leaders will teach STEM, enrichment (art, math games, literature, writing), assist with Homework, and Friday Fun clubs.
They will also attend mandatory meetings/trainings/field trips. New hires receive training on Program Policies/Procedures, Curriculum/Lesson Planning, CPR/First Aid and have on-the-job training (shadowing).
• Ability to see and hear for the purpose of observing and regulating student behavior;
Stand and walk for long periods of time;
Occasionally run for brief periods;
Cope with stress and emergency situations;
Frequently climb stairs;
Occasionally exert 10
-20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects;
Be able to bend, climb, kneel and balance to assist students as needed;
Perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, provide oral information, the manual dexterity to operate work related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects;
Prolonged exposure to weather elements and noise.
Within (9) Elementary and (2) Middle Schools in the Whittier City School District
Qualifications- A.A. or 48 College units in a related field/ OR pass the Group Leader test
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies
- Previous experience working with school-age children
- Good interpersonal skills
Rate: $18.25 per hour
