BEHAVIOR AIDEOverview
The Behavioral Aide plays a key role in supporting youth across five core program areas:
Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation
. This position focuses on guiding youth with behavioral challenges by promoting a safe, supportive, and structured environment that encourages positive growth and development. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and skilled in behavior management strategies.
- Support the implementation of daily activities and behavior plans across all program areas.
- Observe, track, and record youth behavior to assist in developing and monitoring individualized interventions.
- Utilize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies to reinforce positive behaviors.
- Assist in managing behavioral challenges, including conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
- Provide clear expectations, values clarification, and consistent consequences for behavior.
- Maintain open communication with the Site Facilitator and report on student progress and concerns.
- Monitor youth for emotional and physical changes and report observations appropriately.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
- Attend and actively participate in mandatory training and site/program meetings.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive environment that reflects the mission and values of the program.
- Always serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, organizational policies, and youth protection protocols.
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate’s degree (AA), 48 college semester units, or successful completion of the Program Leader Equivalency Exam preferred.
- Experience working with youth ages 6–18 in educational, recreational, or behavioral support settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate, supervise, and engage youth in structured environments.
- Experience in behavior management and youth development strategies.
- CPR and First Aid certification (required prior to hire).
- TB clearance (required prior to hire).
- Must pass all background checks and drug screening.
- Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment Prevention Training provided upon hire.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
