We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to support automation equipment projects, primarily focusing on PLC-based systems for industrial automation. The successful candidate will design control panels, schematics, and layouts, incorporating GM-specific standards such as load out configurations and 24v control logic. Proficiency in EPLAN software and an understanding of 'connecting marker' functionality to link electrical connections across schematics is essential.
Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical schematics and panel layouts using EPLAN, adhering to standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into automation equipment.
- Incorporate GM-specific requirements such as load out configurations and 24v control logic into design documentation.
- Select and specify electrical components including PLCs, sensors, actuators, and safety devices.
- Support the build and debug phases of automation equipment, providing troubleshooting and design updates as needed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and customer specifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Experience in electrical design for industrial automation focusing on PLC-based systems.
- Proficiency in EPLAN software or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Understanding of GM-specific standards and certifications.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering principles and controls design.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in full panel design.
- AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN experience required.
- GM certifications or standards are a significant advantage.
This role is based in an office environment with an attached plant floor where equipment is built and tested. The opportunity offers long-term potential to gain experience with GM automation projects, and eventually, Ford projects as they transition to using EPLAN over the next year.
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based out of Whitmore Lake, MI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $51.00/hr.
