FORWARD SERVICE CORPORATION’S (FSC) UPWARD BOUND PROGRAMS

What is Upward Bound:

Upward Bound serves high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree and/or from families who meet federal income guidelines. The goal of UB is to help students recognize and develop their potential and to encourage them to pursue post‑secondary degrees. Our goal of summer programming is to incorporate learning in a fun and creative way.

Where:

• This will be an opportunity to teach on campus at UW‑Whitewater in Whitewater, WI in a classroom setting.

What:

Two candidates for the following subjects:

• World Language ASL Curriculum Content and Lesson Preparation (Grades 9‑12)
• World Language German Curriculum Content and Lesson Preparation (Grades 9‑12)

When:

• Training and orientation dates TBD

  • Mondays 6/22 & 6/29 (1:00 – 2:30 pm)
  • Tuesdays 6/16, 6/23, & 6/30 (1:00 – 2:30 pm)
  • Wednesdays 6/17, 6/24, & 7/1 (1:00 – 2:30 pm)
  • Thursdays 6/18, 6/25, & 7/2 (1:00 – 2:30 pm)
• Notes:
  • Two sections of the same class each day
  • Each class is 45 minutes long with 2 groups of students each day
  • One learning assignment per week will be required for students to complete asynchronously, preferably through Google Classroom or similar approved platform
  • Approximately 10–20 students per class.
  • 45‑minute lessons

Responsibilities:

• Develop a curriculum focusing on key concepts designed around the summer’s theme
• Develop hands‑on activities for workshops
• Submit a syllabus by May 1, 2026
• Attend teacher orientation
• Create pre and post tests
• Communicate and give feedback to students
• Submit final grades to UB Advisors by July 13 th
• Be a positive role model for our Upward Bound scholars

Qualifications:

• Licensed teacher for 9th‑12th grade in given field and at least 1 year teaching experience preferred.
• All offers will be contingent on a successful criminal background check.
• Must live and work in Wisconsin.
