Overview

The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track faculty member in Finance (Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Planning, Real Estate, Insurance, Banking, and/or Fintech) beginning August 2026 with rank to be determined s is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in BBA in Finance, MS in Finance, MBA, and/or DBA, research, and service to the university, community, and profession.

Research and teaching expertise should complement existing faculty expertise.

Job Details:
The successful candidate will teach courses in Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Planning, Real Estate, Insurance, Banking, and/or Fintech as part of the BBA in Finance, MS in Finance, MBA, and/or DBA. The candidate will also pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate and graduate students, results in publications, and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society.

The candidate will participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

Responsibilities
  • Full-Time teaching responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Finance and finance-related areas, such as real estate, financial planning, banking, insurance, and fintech.
  • Research expectations include peer-reviewed journal articles, case studies, books (book chapters), and other scholarly contributions defined in the CoBE Faculty Handbook.
  • Serve as advisors/mentors to students and engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities.
  • Engage in department, college, and university service, including committee work and participation in community organizations relevant to the candidate’s expertise.
  • Be prepared to teach in a variety of formats (in-person, online, hybrid) and possibly in evenings or weekends; ensure materials are digitally accessible using standard platforms (e.g., Navigate, Canvas, Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook).
Qualifications

Required: A Ph.D. in Finance or equivalent is required at the start of employment. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2026; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that the degree will be completed before January 2027 in advance of the first scheduled review.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching with an emphasis on promoting undergraduate and graduate student success, clear evidence of scholarly potential, and a commitment to working with diverse populations and active participation in university life.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds; willingness and ability to participate in safety rules and regulations and required trainings.

Compensation & Benefits

The minimum starting salary for this position will be $135,000, with salary commensurate with education, related experience, and qualifications.
