The Media Producer – Digital is responsible for managing and maintaining the City of Whitewater’s digital presence, including website content, online media, and social media coordination. This position owns the day‑to‑day execution of digital content publishing and ensures public‑facing information is accurate, timely, accessible, and consistent with City priorities.

This role works closely with the Chief of Staff and other City departments to support digital communication needs and collaborates with the Media Producer – Production to support meeting operations, event coverage, and related production activities. This position is highly visible and interacts regularly with City staff, elected officials, community organizations, and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Digital Content and Website Management
    • Serves as the operational owner of the City’s website, including routine content updates, page organization, and media assets.
    • Publishes and maintains public‑facing digital content in coordination with the Chief of Staff and City departments.
    • Ensures website and digital content remain accurate, current, and aligned with established communication guidelines.
    • Supports accessibility and usability standards for digital content in coordination with IT.
  • Social Media and Online Engagement
    • Coordinates and publishes approved content to the City’s official social media platforms.
    • Assists in maintaining a consistent and professional online presence across digital channels.
    • Supports basic planning and scheduling of digital content in coordination with leadership.
    • Monitors digital platforms for content issues or required updates and escalates as appropriate.
  • Digital Media Production and Editing
    • Develops, edits, and prepares digital media assets, including video, audio, and basic graphic content, for online use.
    • Performs light post‑production editing of recorded meetings or events for digital publishing needs.
    • Manages digital media files and assets to support reuse, archiving, and publication.
  • Meeting and Event Support
    • Provides booth support and technical assistance for public meetings as needed.
    • Assists with recording meetings and City events in coordination with the Media Producer – Production.
    • Supports setup, operation, or monitoring of digital and streaming components during meetings or events, as assigned.
  • Coordination and Professional Responsibilities
    • Coordinates digital content needs with City departments and external partners.
    • Maintains documentation and basic procedures related to digital content publishing and website updates.
    • Attends scheduled meetings and maintains availability during assigned production, meeting, or publishing windows.
    • Provide coverage and operational support for the production desk when the primary operator is unavailable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic experience creating or editing digital content such as video, audio, or simple graphics.
  • Ability to update website content and publish information using established tools and systems.
  • Familiarity with common social media platforms and online content posting.
  • Ability to work with City departments to coordinate content and schedules.
  • Willingness to assist with meeting booth operations and event recording as needed.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new tools and adapt to changing digital needs.
Education and/or Experience
  • Experience supporting digital media, website content, social media, or related communications work preferred.
  • Familiarity with PC‑based systems and common digital content and multimedia tools.
  • Experience creating, editing, or publishing content for online or public‑facing platforms.
