We are hiring for a Casual Registered Nurse, Surgical Services - Operating Room to join our team at Peace Arch Hospital located in White Rock, B.C.
Detailed OverviewIn accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the mission and values of Fraser Health, the Registered Nurse (RN), O.R. provides direct nursing care to patients within the Operating Room (OR) according to established standards and administrative policies and procedures. The RN assesses patients’ physical and psychosocial needs, identifies problems, plans, implements, documents, evaluates and coordinates nursing care of assigned patients and performs scrubbing and circulating duties.

Education and Experience
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM.
- One year of recent relevant clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area, and completion of post‑graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
- Ability to determine and deal with emergency situations.
- Ability to recognize acuity changes.
- Ability to use factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions with evidence‑based practice.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff and the interprofessional team using verbal, written and electronic applications.
- Ability to promote person‑centered care that demonstrates empathy, sensitivity to diverse cultures and patient advocacy.
- Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem‑solve effectively.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to collaborate and promote cooperation among interprofessional team members.
- Ability to operate related equipment and relevant computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
