POSITION: Nowhi’ Ida Bagoye Life Is Precious Clinical Supervisor
CLASSIFICATION CODE: EXEMPT FULL TIME
REPORTS TO: ABHS CLINICAL DIRECTOR
STATEMENT OF JOB: The Nowhi’ Ida Bagoye (Life Is Precious) Clinical Supervisor provides direct clinical supervision to behavioral health professionals, technicians, and paraprofessionals. They oversee assessment, appropriate level of care recommendations, and crisis/high-risk interventions. In collaboration with the Program Manager, they implement direct care services and oversee various service settings, ensuring compliance with program contracts and requirements. Responsibilities include analyzing assessment needs, establishing clinical practice policies, managing agency assessment programs, and ensuring quality care within the White Mountain Apache Tribe under ABHS authority.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide ongoing clinical and technical supervision, review clinical skills application, offer coaching, identify improvement areas, and recommend remediation in consultation with the Clinical Director.Ensure staff compliance with clinical training and supervision requirements.Address diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs in high-risk populations using trauma-informed care, maintaining professionalism and cultural awareness.Adhere to policies, procedures, and standards of ABHS, the White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, AHCCCS, and other regulatory bodies.Maintain and supervise client records per HIPAA, AHCCCS, ABHS, and legal requirements.Assess staff capabilities, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure compliance with standards.Review and authorize clinical documents in accordance with licensure and funding requirements.Collaborate with staff on de-escalation and supervisory interventions.Provide direct clinical services during high volume or staffing shortages, and support the Suicide Prevention Team.Assist clients with scheduling long-term mental health services.Work with leadership on policy dissemination and program implementation.Deliver direct client services, including counseling, treatment planning, case management, and assessments.Train in and support community-wide suicide prevention models like ASIST and SafeTALK.Participate in clinical teams and weekly staffing for client progress review.Participate in 24-hour on-call rotations as needed.Represent ABHS in community and interagency issues related to suicide prevention, including public speaking and education.Coordinate communication with partners and recommend program modifications to support innovation.Work with Billing and Quality departments on QA processes, ensuring compliance with all standards.Maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and serve as a positive role model.Participate in training, report attendance reliably, and communicate attendance issues promptly.Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree or higher in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology. Valid Arizona license or ability to obtain within one year.At least 5 years of mental health service experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.Strong knowledge of suicide prevention, risk assessment, and treatment modalities.Excellent communication and facilitation skills.Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse populations and teams.Critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.Proficiency in MS Office and basic office equipment.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Ability to pass pre-employment testing, including background checks.Preferred:
At least 3 years’ experience working with Native Americans in behavioral health.Experience in crisis intervention and co-occurring disorders.NOTE: Preference is given to qualified Native American candidates under the Indian Preference Act.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The physical requirements include constant standing, frequent use of hands, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, grasping, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other physical activities necessary for job performance.
