POSITION: INTAKE CLINICIAN
CLASSIFICATION CODE: EXEMPT FULL TIME
DEPARTMENT: ASSESSMENT / CRISIS

ASSESSMENT CRISIS CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
STATEMENT OF JOB:
The Intake Clinician works closely with intake coordinators to ensure clients are enrolled and assessed within 72 hours of initial contact. The clinician triages clients to appropriate departments based on clinical needs, working under supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Abide by all policies, procedures, and standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, IHS, AHCCCS, and other regulatory agencies.Demonstrate flexibility and competence in handling clients with varying traumatic experiences and complex psychological presentations.Perform assessments and diagnoses accurately, especially with clients presenting high comorbidity of substance abuse and trauma-related issues, under clinical supervision.Address diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs using a trauma-informed care approach, maintaining professionalism and cultural awareness.Facilitate referrals to ensure continuity of care across ABHS programs.Provide walk-in services related to enrollment and assessment.Complete assessments and treatment plans within 72 hours of client contact.Document all client interactions and documentation timely (consent forms, releases, diagnostic reviews).Coordinate with supervisors for client triage.Assist in staff training and participate in weekly clinical team meetings.Maintain client records in compliance with HIPAA, AHCCCS, ABHS, and other regulations.Follow rules for billing and funding documentation.Uphold ethical standards and treat clients and staff with dignity and respect.Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays as needed.Complete required training and other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related mental health field; valid license or license-eligible in the U.S., with Arizona license within one year.At least one year of experience in mental health, case management, or related fields; experience with Native American populations preferred.Excellent communication skills;
Apache language skills preferred.Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.Proficiency in MS Office and operation of office equipment.Valid Arizona Driver’s License and reliable transportation.Ability to pass pre-employment tests, including background checks and fingerprint clearance.Note:
Preference is given to qualified Native American candidates per Indian Preference Act.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, grasping, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
