Dock Worker​/Lead Hand

• Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using the handheld scanner as well as staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night as required
• Distributes freight to local P&D Drivers
• Marks materials with identifying information
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (on handheld device)
• Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to the shipper's bill of lading
• Starts heaters, placards trailers as required
• Arrange freight in a specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space
• Operate tow motor to transport stored items from the dock warehouse to the trailer
• Must take an active role in the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor, properly storing dunnage, etc.
• Use manager's pickup truck to make small rush deliveries as required
• Computer knowledge — responsible for end‑of‑day labels and handling of drivers/scanning
• Other duties may be assigned

• WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate/Tow motor certificate (covered with in‑house training programs)
• Developed problem‑solving, critical thinking, decision‑making and judgment skills
• Able to lift 50 lbs occasionally and repetitively
• Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully
• Ability to operate internal computer systems and handheld scanning devices
• Dependable and able to work in a dock environment safely and efficiently while meeting departure timelines
• Knowledge of the AS400 system would be an asset
• Willing to train the right applicant
• Have own personal transportation to and from work with a clean driving record
