Partner Staffing on behalf of our client, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Environmental Scientist or Environmental Technician with a strong background in contaminated sites assessment and remediation to join their Whitehorse-based team. The successful candidate will support environmental site investigations, monitoring programs, data analysis, and technical reporting for a range of industrial, commercial, and government clients. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both field and office environments, enjoys problem solving, and is looking to grow within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with Yukon and federal regulatory standards.
- Conduct field investigations including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and soil vapor sampling.
- Perform groundwater monitoring, well installation oversight, and site characterization activities.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, including drillers, excavation crews, surveyors, and laboratories.
- Document field activities, manage sample chain-of-custody, and ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures.
- Analyze field and lab data, interpret contaminant distribution, and support risk assessments and remediation planning.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, data tables, figures, and summaries for clients and regulators.
- Assist with environmental permitting, regulatory submissions, and communication with Yukon Government and First Nations partners.
- Support remediation projects, including site preparation, contractor oversight, and performance monitoring.
- Maintain strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in contaminated sites assessment, environmental monitoring, or remediation.
- Strong knowledge of contaminated sites regulations, environmental guidelines, and sampling methodologies.
- Experience working in northern or remote environments is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, GIS, database systems) and technical writing.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license; ability to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, H2S, WHMIS, TDG) considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
