This is a Permanent full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

Your roleThe Assessment and Remediation Project Manager is a member of the Site Assessment and Remediation Unit, which is responsible for the identification, assessment and remediation of Yukon Government contaminated sites. Using your knowledge of the technical aspects of contaminated sites, you will research remedial approaches, review and analyze reports, and develop work plans for the identification, assessment and/or remediation of Yukon Government contaminated sites.
With excellent time and project management skills, you will undertake procurement, supervise contractors and manage all aspects of a wide range of contracts overseen by the Unit. You will also undertake groundwater and soil sampling programs. To be successful you will be a team player and have the ability to work independently in a very busy setting with numerous and changing priorities.

Essential Qualifications- Undergraduate degree or higher in chemistry, soil science, geology, hydrogeology, environmental sciences, renewable resources management or an engineering degree majoring in chemical, environmental, geological or civil engineering or equivalent experience.
- Recent project management experience.
- Experience with contract administration including budgets and tracking of expenditures.
- Considerable experience with contaminated sites assessment and/or remediation.
- Technical and field experience relating to contaminated sites will be an asset.
- Experience working within a multi-stakeholder environment with diverse interests will be an asset.
Candidates who have related equivalent experience or post-secondary coursework in one or more of the areas of study listed, or a related area of study, combined with considerable demonstrated experience as noted above, will be equally considered.

- Travel outside of Yukon for meetings/training
- Travel within Yukon to remote locations in a variety of weather conditions
- Potential risk of exposure to contaminants related to those found at contaminated sites
- Heavy lifting is also sometimes a requirement of this position.
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40h/NPFA 1072 certification, or equivalent or the ability to acquire within 6 months of hire.
