High School Science Teacher
Terms of Employment:Salary and work year as established by the Board of Education and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Integrated Science License preferred
Job Goal / PurposeThe Classroom Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, including the use of district-approved high-quality instructional materials, aligned to academic standards, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. The teacher supports the intellectual, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of students through effective instructional practices, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and data-informed decision making to promote student success and a positive school culture.
Qualifications- Valid Ohio certification/licensure in the appropriate subject area.
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
- Knowledge of instructional best practices, classroom management, and student engagement strategies.
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned to state academic standards and district curriculum, including the use of high-quality instructional strategies and resources.
- Organize classroom instruction and manage learning environments to maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Provide clear, accurate, and developmentally appropriate explanations and instruction.
- Present subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Answer student questions clearly and completely.
- Demonstrate strong content knowledge and instructional expertise.
- Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative measures.
- Analyze student data to identify learning needs and adjust instruction and interventions accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, assessments, and instructional outcomes.
- Use data to collaborate with teams and support continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Implement PBIS strategies to promote positive behavior, engagement, and a supportive classroom culture.
- Provide positive reinforcement for appropriate academic and social behaviors.
- Implement behavior intervention strategies as needed to support student success.
- Establish clear expectations, routines, and consistent responses to behavior.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with families through multiple communication methods.
- Work collaboratively with grade-level or teaching teams to plan instruction and share best practices.
- Collaborate with intervention specialists, school counselors, and support staff to meet diverse student needs.
- Work with programs such as Special Education, English Language Learning, Literacy, and After-School Programs.
- Attend all required meetings and professional obligations.
- Demonstrate professional conduct, including appropriate dress and demeanor.
- Arrive promptly and remain through scheduled work times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Frequent supervision of students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, schoolyard, or on field trips.
- Frequent need to assist students with behavioral or management needs.
- Excellent observation and communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of students, staff, families, and community members.
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and the collective bargaining agreement, ensuring alignment with district goals and expectations.
