Job DescriptionIvy Rehab is a rapidly growing network of outpatient physical, occupational, speech therapy, and ABA clinics, with over 700 locations across the United States. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and self‑sufficient real estate attorney with a strong background in retail leasing and commercial real‑estate transactions to join our in‑house Legal team.
AssociateCounsel – Real Estate (Retail Leasing)
This position will focus on negotiating and finalizing new (de novo and acquired) retail lease arrangements and handling all related and ancillary real‑estate agreements, including amendments, renewals, SNDAs, and estoppels. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in retail leasing and be comfortable independently managing transactions and advising internal stakeholders with minimal external legal support.
Key ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate de novo retail leases and associated real estate documents across Ivy’s expanding clinic portfolio.
Partner with internal business teams and landlords to align lease terms with Ivy’s operational and strategic goals.
Review and negotiate various real estate‑related documents, including:
- Lease amendments and extensions
- SNDAs (Subordination, Non‑Disturbance, and Attornment Agreements)
- Estoppel certificates
- Assignment, consent, terminations, and other ancillary agreements
Provide legal counsel on real estate‑related issues, such as dispute resolution, landlord‑tenant obligations, enforcement actions, and operational concerns.
Collaborate with Real Estate, Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams to ensure that legal terms align with business needs.
Support the development and refinement of internal lease templates, negotiation playbooks, and process efficiencies.
Track and manage the status of lease negotiations and approvals through appropriate internal systems and workflows.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 6–10 years of legal experience, with a strong focus on retail leasing and commercial real‑estate transactions.
- In‑house experience is a plus but not required; however, the candidate must be confident operating autonomously on real‑estate matters.
- Demonstrated experience managing a high volume of leasing transactions and legal documentation.
- Strong negotiation skills with a practical, business‑oriented approach and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
