Harris Beach Murtha seeks a senior associate or senior counsel level attorney to join our collaborative business litigation team. The role involves representing clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings, taking and defending depositions, conducting research, drafting memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, and examining records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations. The attorney will collaborate with senior attorneys on strategy, work across various commercial litigation practice areas, and support clients alongside colleagues from other departments.
A minimum of 1,800 billable hours annually is required.
- Represent clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
- Take and defend depositions
- Research factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys on strategy
- Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, etc.
- Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations
- Commit to working in a variety of commercial litigation practice areas
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients
- Maintain a minimum of 1,800 billable hours annually
- 5+ years’ experience in litigation required
- Experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy preferred
- Admission to the New York bar required
- Admission to the Connecticut and/or Massachusetts bar preferred
- Federal or state judicial clerkship experience preferred
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA‑accredited law school; good standing as an active, practicing member of the bar
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
- High organizational skills for prioritizing workload
- Ability to absorb, process, and understand new information rapidly
- Maintains high performance standards
- Exhibits conscientiousness, dedication, self‑discipline, and a sense of responsibility

Albany, Buffalo, Ithaca, Rochester, Syracuse: $138,000 – $175,000
Uniondale & White Plains: $148,000 – $175,000
New York City: $159,000 – $175,000
