We are seeking an experienced and accomplished Principal, Geotechnical Engineer to lead high-performing teams, cultivate deep client relationships, and deliver innovative geotechnical solutions. You’ll lead strategic geotechnical initiatives, champion technical innovation, expand our footprint in geotechnical services and client markets, and provide expert guidance on complex, high-value projects.

Responsibilities- Lead and grow the company’s geotechnical portfolio by developing and maintaining strategic client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and driving significant revenue growth in geotechnical engineering.
- Oversee large, complex geotechnical projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet technical, budgetary, and client satisfaction goals. Serve as a senior leader on project teams and oversee all phases of geotechnical service delivery.
- Build and guide high-performance teams, fostering a collaborative environment. Mentor emerging talent and promote staff development through hands-on coaching and leadership during project execution.
- Contribute to the company’s long-term geotechnical strategy by identifying new markets, services, and technologies, and lead proposals for high-impact geotechnical projects.
- Actively participate in professional geotechnical organizations, representing the company, providing thought leadership, and influencing industry trends.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Demonstrate foundational safety behaviors.
- Master’s degree in engineering, with a technical emphasis in geotechnical engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering and related technical areas, with a proven track record of driving business growth through client relationships and leadership in complex projects.
- Professional registration as PE in NY.
- Demonstrated expertise in both business development and project leadership, with experience safely and profitably leading high-revenue geotechnical projects and client portfolios.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and lead client and internal discussions effectively.
- Proven leadership experience in building and managing diverse teams, mentoring staff, and fostering collaboration.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic growth, client needs, and company profitability.
- Significant experience in geotechnical project delivery for infrastructure, building foundations, or transportation sectors, with established relationships and insights into regional industry trends.
- Experience presenting at conferences or contributing thought leadership within geotechnical professional organizations.
- Familiarity with local and regional regulations and policies in geotechnical engineering.
- A passion for continuous learning, staying at the forefront of industry developments, and contributing to innovation within the company.
The salary range for this position in New York City
, NY and White Plains
, NY is $180,000 - $220,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
