Total Beds: 30 Beds (14 Private / 16 Semi-Private)
π Required Certifications- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Goal Ratio: 1:4
- Typical Ratio: 1:5
- Occasionally: 1:6
- Takes a full patient assignment (Days & Nights)
- Clinical Assistant:
- 2 x 12-hour shifts (on floor with patient assignment)
- 2 x 8-hour shifts (office-based)
- 2β3 CNAs per shift
- CNA Ratio: 1:10β12
- EMR: Sunrise
- Tele Monitors: Nihon Kohden
- Tele Techs available, but RNs must read & interpret their own strips
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
- Labetalol
- Nitro
- Heparin
- Occasionally Lasix
- Managed by RT (in-house 24/7)
- Air Vo (High Flow)
- Respironics (BiPAP)
- Rarely manage chest tubes
- RT available 24/7
- Hospitalist
- Intensivist (ICU)
- Residents
- IV Team (All IV starts done by IV team)
- PICC/Midline Team
- Pharmacy (Pyxis)
Shift: 7aβ7p or 7pβ7a
- Must be on unit by 6:45 am/pm
- Self-scheduling allowed (based on unit needs)
- 4 requested days off per month allowed
- Fri / Sat / Sun = Weekend shifts
Nights:
- 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule
Days:
- 4 weekend day shifts per 4-week schedule
- No true straight day shift
- If working straight days β Must work minimum 3 night shifts per 4 weeks (not required to be weekend)
π Only true straight shift = Nights
π Holidays- Must be flexible
- Typically covered by permanent staff
- Navy blue top & bottom
- Navy scrub jacket
- No hoodies
- Required to float (Tele or Med Surg)
- Ratios:
- Tele: up to 1:6
- Med Surg: up to 1:6β1:7 (1:7 not common)
- May float to Pandemic Unit
