The Training Coach – MA partners with the learning and operations team to help create an effortless, personal, and connected onboarding and training experience. The Training Coach - MA executes the practical skills training phase of new hire training by following a formal and organized method of teaching new or existing team members the critical thinking skills and high-level competencies to feel comfortable and confident in their role.
The Training Coach – MA uses a competency-based model to foster growth learning and enhance the socialization of the learner. Learners include newly hired team members, team members transferring to a center or department, and those who require additional support with new or existing learning experiences. The Training Coach – MA provides support to Medical Providers, Radiologic Technologists, and patients through a variety of tasks, including patient care management, organization, and communication.
- Teach and evaluate team members’ technical skill competencies using pre-approved methods and procedures.
- Conduct orientation to the center, department and/or organization to cover predetermined learning items.
- Teach and train team members to bring them up to predetermined levels of competency for the specific job.
- Host Learning Coach Workshops as needed.
- Serve as a backup to Training Specialists and complete classroom-based training; complete Airtable compliance documentation.
- Allocate 40 to 80 hours of dedicated time with up to 6 assigned team members to ensure knowledge and skills meet the company’s learning standards.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to capture new hires with challenging schedules (e.g., Per Diems, Temporary).
- Provide in-center coaching on core competencies for new team members.
- Provide hands-on market-specific training needs, including new hire training, check-ins, market process updates, clinical refreshers, and annual competencies.
- Ensure accountability of team members’ competence validation and collaborate with Training Specialists and Learning team leaders for ongoing quality improvements.
- Meet with the Training Specialist regularly to support market operation training needs related to the team members’ learning journey, including new hire training and market updates.
- Assist in maintaining Airtable compliance by completing and uploading Core Competency Checklists and submitting Competency Evaluations.
- Track and manage completion of Core Competency Checklist items and submit e-forms when completed.
- Provide timely feedback on team member performance and escalate issues as required.
- Operate in a mobile capacity; travel to sites where the majority of new hires’ home locations are near, as assigned.
- Support and train other market Training Coaches nationally as needed.
- Attend mandatory operations/learning meetings on behalf of the Training Specialist in their absence.
- Conduct patient registration including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, verify insurance and patient eligibility, process co-pays, and schedule patient appointments.
- Coordinate provider referrals to designated Specialists and answer patient questions regarding care.
- Inform technical staff of patient flow; prepare patients for examination with interviews to verify information and record medical history.
- Perform preliminary physical tests (vital signs) and escalate critical cases as needed; conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
- Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception areas; manage supply inventory and expiration dates.
- Maintain medical records; scan charts to patient files and manage daily communication duties.
- Ensure reception area is well maintained and conduct courtesy follow-ups with patients.
- Follow operating instructions to perform daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets as needed.
- Perform other patient care duties as defined in the Medical Assistant Guideline document.
