Tax Accountant

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountant to join our client's team. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance on tax planning and risk management. This role collaborates closely with finance and accounting teams to support overall organizational objectives, meet critical deadlines, and deliver high-quality financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

+ Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations

+ Research and interpret tax law and advise on tax planning strategies and compliance matters

+ Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in accordance with internal policies and regulatory standards

+ Respond to tax notices and correspond with government agencies as needed

+ Assist with tax audits and resolve tax-related issues

+ Stay up to date with changing tax legislation and regulatory requirements

+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to optimize the company's tax position

+ Support month-end and year-end financial close processes as related to tax accounts

Requirements

Requirements of the position

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)

+ CPA certification preferred (or progression toward certification)

+ 2+ years of relevant tax accounting experience in public accounting or a corporate environment

+ Proficient with accounting and tax software (e.g., Quick Books, CCH Axcess, Pro System fx, or similar platforms)

+ Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

+ Up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
